After an unforgettable experience at Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur, we decided to explore yet another iconic Taj property – Taj Dal View in Srinagar. True to the Taj legacy, this stay didn’t disappoint. Nestled high above Dal Lake with panoramic mountain views, this property is every bit as majestic as we’d hoped.

What made this stay even more memorable was the unbeatable value: for a room rate that would typically total nearly ₹1 lakh for two nights, we paid only ₹3,000.

The Highlight: An Unparalleled Pool View

Let me start with what truly stood out — the pool area. The infinity pool here is beyond words, offering an unobstructed view of Dal Lake with the Himalayan mountains in the background. I’d go as far as saying this is one of the best pool views in India, rivalling the stunning vistas at properties like the Oberoi Wildflower Hall.

Room with a View: Upgraded to a Suite

We were in for a pleasant surprise upon arrival. Thanks to our Epicure membership and loyalty to Taj, we were upgraded to a suite with a balcony overlooking the lake. The view from our room was simply breathtaking, with the lake on one side and mountains on the other, making it a truly memorable sight to wake up to. The suite was spacious, luxurious, and offered a level of comfort perfect for unwinding.

Lush Lawns and Walking Areas

The property boasts beautiful lawns and walking paths surrounded by greenery and the ever-impressive mountain views. There are also plenty of picture-perfect spots to capture memories. These areas are a fantastic addition for anyone wanting to soak in the natural beauty of Srinagar without leaving the property.

Food, Service, and High Tea Rituals

The dining experience at Taj Vivanta Dal View was just as memorable. The restaurant served a delightful mix of local and international dishes, with an added bonus of daily high tea sessions. We were treated to traditional Kashmiri Kahwa and an assortment of regional snacks. The staff’s hospitality was warm and welcoming, truly embodying the spirit of Taj service.

Insider Tips for Future Guests

Head to the Top Floor Terrace: Many guests don’t realize it, but taking the lift up to the top terrace offers stunning sunset views over Dal Lake. This hidden gem was a highlight of our stay, providing an unforgettable panorama.
Choose Your Room Wisely: If privacy is a priority, consider an upgrade to avoid the base rooms, which are located near the common corridor. Although these rooms offer easy access, the glass doors might compromise privacy as they are near the pathways where people walk by.
